Back to the Camp Routine

The park was full for the weekend and campers were not in a hurry to exit on Sunday when the temp got up near 100*.  The beach was crowded and the store sold out of ice cream a couple hours before closing.  We were up at 5:30 AM to help with boat trailer parking since it was Day 3 of a very limited fishing season. The water is too warm so many fish are dying before they get to the lake. There wasn't as big a rush as there had been on Saturday so we spent two hours on the beach picking up liter.  We rewarded ourselves with breakfast out before starting to clean campsites. We had over 60 to do but the oppressive heat slowed us down as the day worn on. We quit at 4 pm after 8 hours and caught them all up today.
The camp store rents water craft.  Since there is a burn ban, boat rentals
help to make up the wood income loss.
Liter patrol.  Hard to believe it was cool enough for long pants after
temps in the high 90s yesterday.  I had the camping hair cut
before leaving Port Orchard so a hat is a must for the next month or so.

Some people can't find the garbage cans so they stuff liter between the
picnic table boards and in the knot holes.

Boat trailer parking is closely supervised by the staff to get as many
packed in as possible.  When all the spots are taken, our job is to help
boaters find parking outside the park and then shuttle them back
to the boat ramp.

6:00 AM on the lake as the sun is coming up.  The water is very low.

Usually, the water is up 10' closer to this stump.

Early morning calm before beach is crowded over with families.

Children's art work in the sand.

A fort maybe?

One of the 4 buckets of liter we picked up in 2 hours.

On the way to breakfast in Plain, we passed this herd of sheep who
travel around eating the fields. The shepherd and his 5 dogs will manage
the herd for a week or so in this field before moving on.

The jeep line up at the Old Mill Restaurant.  We met one
of the Park staff there.  He couldn't get his Jeep started when
it was time to leave.  Sonny and the other Jeep owner
tried several things before they decided to push it to
bump start. I did the steering while they pushed it
back.  Just as we were going to push it down hill,
Bill turned the key one more time and it started.
He is buying breakfast next time!
