Wirtas move to Lake Wenatchee

Sonny and I are signed up to be campground hosts in the South Park of Lake Wenatchee State Park.  This is our 4th year volunteering in this beautiful spot under tall pines in Eastern Washington.  We'll be here for the month of May and back again in August.

We got underway around 11 AM on Monday, May 4, from Port Orchard.  The traffic through Tacoma was light so we made good time to Snoqualmie Pass for a coffee break. The weather was pleasant and in the high 70s by the time we were over Blewett Pass.  We got settled into campsite #46 and took a walk to check out the scenery.  The upper bathrooms in the South Park were remodeled over the winter and the next step is to pour the cement walkways next week.  Of the 100 campsites, about 20 of them are available right now and reservations don't have to be made. The other sites are being cleared of pine needles and pine cones.  All sites are to be ready for Memorial Day Weekend.
Ready to go!  Grass has been mowed; trees are pruned;
weeds beat back; we're off!

This loaded down Jeep was towing his motorcycle in this well packed trailer.
Must have taken the handle bars off to get in so tightly.

Continued road work on the east side of the pass.  Looks like we'll be
crossing a bridge one day.

Rounding the corner to site 46.

The view down to the camp store.  Only one camper Monday night.

The alpine flowers are in bloom. I'd like to see more of
the purple lupines.

We took a walk along the Wenatchee River trail to Ranger /Bruce's
Memorial Bench.  Bruce passed away in 2013 only a few months into
retirement.  This view is looking South at the confluence of the Wenatchee
 and Nason Creek.
