The Weekend Activity

Thursday morning, it was my turn to run the blower to push a winter's worth of pine needles into piles for the tractor to pick up.  2 hours is about the limit our shoulders can take before Aleve is needed.

Later in the afternoon, our friends, Bev and Jerry arrived for a visit. We toured them around our territory and enjoyed the steaks they brought for dinner.

The lake was at its best-flat calm.  Bev and Poncho on a beach walk.

Tasty steaks on the grill.
Friday morning walk on the beach.  Another beautiful
day of calm waters.

Bev also brought fresh eggs from her coop for our breakfast.

We took Bev and Jerry on a driving tour of  Lake Wenatchee's
neighborhood.  This lilac bush is at "The Cove" on
Fish Lake where the better fishing is.  We saw pictures of
4 # trout that have been caught in the last month.

Smelling sweet

The Cove parking lot which looks pretty empty but was
actually pretty busy with boat rentals and fishing people.  There is a
campground behind me with 100 very crowded sites.  Sonny and I have
walked it in the past but today, we tried to drive it with the truck.  The roads were
too narrow and not marked well enough for us so it was a short visit.
We visited with the camp host who has relatives living in Port Orchard.

The next stop was Plain Hardware Store in Plain., WA  for coffee, about
5 miles from our campsite.  My phone has had an update so we were
trying out the selfie pose while we sat on the store swing.

Poncho is getting his seat claimed in the truck while
Bev and Jerry get ready to visit relatives in Leavenworth.

Later on Friday afternoon, Sonny and I went to the beach.  We were
surprised to see a sailboat on such flat water.  There was just
enough wind to get it back to the boat launch.
Today (Saturday), we raked and blew pine needles in sites 12-30.
Those sites should be open next weekend if the new bathroom
is finished.  The cement truck is due on Monday to pour
the walkways around it.

Wish there was something useful to do with dead
pine needles.
The first trillium I've found.
Children's art work at the playground.

The campground has about 12 sites being used  this weekend.  Pretty quiet.  This morning, a  young man came to the door needing help.  He had backed his SUV over a log and was unable to get it unstuck. In the end, he found enough other volunteers to lift his vehicle off the log.  I asked how he had gotten into such a position.  He just said he backed over it.  (a log over a foot in diameter??).  The daytime temps got into the 70s and there were children in the lake and others on rafts. I can't imagine the what the water temp was.
