The last two weeks have been quiet in the campground. The Forest Service closed all campgrounds and trails north of Route 2 due to the fire danger. When we returned from the Douglas County Fair, we found Nason Creek Campground closed. Nason Creek is a National Forest Service park on the same road as Lake Wenatchee State Park and the rules are different for the two campgrounds. One is State and one is National. Even hunting on Forest Service land was closed which was a disappointment for some of the campers who had come just for bow hunting. The weather began to cool down which was good news for the firefighters.
On our days off, we traveled over to Port Orchard to check on our house and gather up a month of mail. I was excited to see that all but one tree had survived the drought. I'm thankful that my friend, Cindy, helped with watering. The trees actually seemed to grow at least a foot. We enjoyed saunas and the TV news. Of course, there wasn't any food in the house so we had to eat out several times.
Labor Day Weekend arrived with lots of wind, rain and morning temps below 50* Campers were quiet in the evening since all fires including propane rings, were banned. It was too cool to sit around the firepit lantern. That is, until this afternoon when the propane ring ban was lifted. We've had several campers in the last few hours knocking on the door reporting fires which are really the rings, not wood burning.

It may be hard to see but some child created a beach salmon with its
tongue sticking out. |

Our camp store owners have been generous with providing us with
coffee treats every day. I discovered these two coffees on the table
while I was picking up litter one day. I thought, "how nice of Adrianna
to bring the coffee out to the beach!". Afew minutes later, a man approached
to tell me those were his coffees! Good thing I didn't take a sip. |

| Campers left their broken chairs for us to pick up. |
 |
This was an unusual tent. After several trips by, we discovered that the main
dome is the covering over the picnic table and the 3 little wings are
the sleeping areas. The whole tent took up a lot of space but made it
a dry move from one tent to the other. |

We were saddened to find where someone had cut all the vine maples to
make a fort to play in. Must have been an adult in charge since the
limbs were an inch thick, too much for a child to cut. |
 |
The branches filled the GEM. It is maddening since campers want
privacy between campsites and these people cut them down. |
 |
| The campground was quiet for a few nights. |
 |
| One night had no reservations. |

Sonny and I play Rummy and Kings in the Corner in the
evening. I have had a few unusally successful winning
rounds so Sonny tore up the score pad! |

| The mornings have gotten cool. |

Campers in this site, marked the chipmunk
front door with stones and a patio. |
 |
Not sure what this was meant to be but someone
spent some time building it. |
 |
Today, the high temp was 63*. Only a light breeze and filtered sunshine
but people were still in the lake for water play! The forecast for tomorrow
and into the week is for the warmer days to return. |
